about
Ali Zanders is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter and storyteller based in Northern New Jersey. Her emotional ballads are heavily fueled by nostalgia - something she considers both her superpower and her curse. While she began writing songs in high school, the original plan was to head off to college for musical theater. That is, until she took a step back and realized she wanted to tell her own stories instead of acting out someone else’s.
She launched her first experimental EP on Soundcloud in 2022, “i wish i was older”, including the musical theater-inspired “rocking the boat” and the fan favorite “palace” as a simple ukulele demo. The EP references the desire kids often feel to be adults, while its sister EP, “i wish i was younger” (released in February 2024) highlights the longing of wanting to be a kid now that you’re an adult. The new EP was reviewed in a BlowUpRadio.com’s New & Notable NJ Music article, and the radio itself has “in the butterfly garden” and “endless summer” in its regular rotation. Her debut on all streaming platforms, “palace (acoustic)” has become a fan favorite at local open mic nights. Her single “earthquake” has been praised on websites like New Jersey Stage.
Her debut EP, Class of 2021, is coming to all streaming platforms on April 25.
